We’re reminding residents to be on their guard as we’ve seen an increase in 2‑in‑1 burglaries locally. This is where thieves break into a home, steal the car keys, and then take the vehicle. Many offenders are opportunists — don’t make it easy for them. Simple steps to protect your home and vehicle:Keep car keys out of sight — don’t leave them near doors, windows or cat flaps. If you have a keyless vehicle, store your fob in a Faraday bag to block relay‑theft signals.Don’t leave handbags, wallets or valuables on display.Always lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home.If you’re out in the evening, leave a light or radio on (timer switches can help).Don’t leave tools, ladders or equipment outside that could help offenders gain entry.Use security lighting and an alarm if you have them — and always set them.Lock gates, sheds and garages.Always lock your car and consider steering locks, alarms or tracking devices. If you have a garage, use it. If not, consider driveway security such as gates or a security post.🔐 Protect your property. Keep it safe. Keep it locked.
